Major achievements of the EUGermany

Major achievements of the EU in science and research
2004 > 2009

IPHOBAC was voted as one of the 10 most important European research projects with German participation of the last five years. Similar voting is also found from other EC countries such as Spain.

Mobile communications and high-frequency technologies are getting more and more important, researcher form Universität Duisburg-Essen have combined wireless and photonic technologies for the development of millimeter-wave photonic components and functions. The consortium of the IPHOBAC (Integrated

photonic mm-wave functions for broadband connectivity) project have developed photonic components for wireless systems in the extra-high frequency bands, enabling a commercially viable technology for those who do not have direct access to ADSL. The exploitation of the IPHOBAC functions is being investigated for several applications including broadband communications, radar, security and instrumentation. ★
